Move things clear
Furniture, electronics, anything on the floor under the drip. Then put a bucket down. Water spreads further than the stain suggests.

Drain a bulging ceiling
A sagging or bubbling ceiling is holding water. Make a small hole at the lowest point, over the bucket. It drains instead of coming down all at once.

Stay off the roof
Wet shingles and soaked decking are how people get badly hurt. Whatever is up there will still be up there when we arrive.

Photograph it first
The ceiling, the room, the water, anything damaged — before you clean up. If this becomes an insurance claim, those photos are the claim.
